Death on vacation: three American tourists drowned, leaving children orphans
On Tuesday, 6 August, three tourists from Texas, including a married couple, drowned while on vacation on the Turks and Caicos Islands.
33-year-old Irma Barrera and her 38-year-old husband Roy Perez rested with their 15-year-old daughter and third victim and his daughter on Middle Caicos.
According to police and local sources, the group explored the picturesque Bambarra Beach when adults got into a powerful current caused by strong gusts of wind.

Rescuers were able to quickly get out of the water girls, but not their parents.
Shortly after the incident, Barrera's body was washed ashore. Search teams scouring the beach found Perez hours later.
The body of a third person was discovered by the US Coast Guard the next morning.
Police Commissioner Trevor Botting said the incident was “a terrible tragedy.”

Relatives of Barrera and Perez will arrive on August 7 to the Caribbean archipelago for the girl.
The incident sparked local calls for officials to put warning signs on the island’s often deserted beaches.
