Too real art: the police broke into the gallery to save a woman, but she turned out to be a sculpture
Police officers in London break into the art gallery of former agent Banksy, mistaking the hyper-realistic sculpture inside for an unconscious woman. The New York Post.

Police broke into the Laz Emporium on November 25 after a man called and said someone inside appeared to be in need of a medical emergency.
That “someone” turned out to be Christina, a sculpture made this year by artist Mark Jenkins. The sculpture depicts a woman sitting in a chair and passed out, she put her head on the table. The piece was commissioned by gallery owner and former Banksy agent Steve Lazarides.
The cops burst into the locked gallery, removing the door from its hinges, only to discover they were about to rescue a work of art.

Gallery employee Hannah Blakemore was upstairs at the time and said she was shocked when she went downstairs and saw the police.
Blakemore said police said "someone reported the woman hadn't moved here for the past two hours" and that authorities thought the man was "having a heart attack or overdosing."

“The meaning of sculpture is to provoke. This work definitely hit the mark,” Blakemore said, adding that the police reproached her for seeing such a realistic sculpture from the window.
This is apparently the second time someone has called the authorities because of these concerns. According to the report, the sculpture is not for sale, but it is worth about $22.
