Stephen Paddock, the gunner who killed a 58 man and injured more than 500 at a country music festival in Las Vegas, aimed at nearby aviation fuel tanks while simultaneously shelling a crowd of onlookers.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal, citing his source, reported on the holes in one of the two fuel tanks with jet fuel near the venue Harvey harves. The report states that one of the bullets hit the tank, but did not cause an explosion.

FBI agents checked the fuel tankers and studied the trajectory of the bullet, from where Paddock opened fire on the 32 floor Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Clark Joseph Lombardo County Sheriff said it’s hard to believe that Paddock had no accomplices or an assistant in this attack.

Lombardo said items confiscated from Paddock included 1600 cartridges and several containers of explosives. It is not yet known what Paddock planned to do with explosives, the sheriff said.

Meanwhile, Mike Boyd, an aviation consultant, told the magazine Review journalthat "a machine gun does not blow up the fuel tank."

“The fuel itself, which is in large volumes, is very difficult to ignite. You'd have to be an amateur terrorist to think about that,” Boyd said.
