How Much Does a Christmas Tree Cost This Season and How to Save
Whether you prefer a real tree or an artificial one, the good news is that there are plenty of both this year. However, you may find a slight price increase compared to last year — especially if you're looking for a live green beauty, writes WCPO.

Of course, nothing compares to the sight and smell of a real forest beauty. But this year, the average price will be between $70 and $100 for a tree that you will admire for only a few weeks.
As a result, some families are beginning to rethink their annual expenses.
Matt and Kelly Williams, who we met in the Christmas tree section of Walmart, think buying an artificial tree makes financial sense.

"We've always bought real Christmas trees," Kelly said. "But we're switching to artificial this year because we're trying to save money. The prices for real trees have gone up so much."
CEO of Balsam Hill, a Christmas tree delivery company, and a spokesman for the American Christmas Tree Association, Mac Harman knows all about Christmas.
"In fact, you can buy an artificial tree at any time of the year," he said.
According to Harman, the prices for artificial trees have increased this year, but only slightly, since the costs of transporting them have decreased.
"Plus, you're going to use that tree for five, seven, 10, maybe 15 years, so it's really worth the investment," explained Balsam Hill CEO.
He also noted that there have been fewer problems with garlands in recent years, as manufacturers no longer use finicky incandescent bulbs.
"LED bulbs, which are now standard on almost all trees sold, last much longer," he said.

If you do prefer a real tree, Harman advises looking outside of densely populated suburbs, where prices tend to be lower.
"If you have the ability to move out of a major city and away from high-demand areas, you may be able to find a better deal," Harman advised.
Of course, the biggest discounts on live forest beauties are closer to Christmas Eve, and on artificial ones - after Christmas.
You can buy a tree a few days after the celebration at a big discount and save it until next year, so you don't have to spend extra money later.
