The transfer of combat aircraft occurred amid growing tensions after the November 25 incident, when Russia captured three Ukrainian warships and their crews in the Black Sea, writes “Voice of America".

After that, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, said that there was a threat of an invasion of the Russian army, and said that a Russian group of more than 80 thousands of soldiers was deployed at the borders of Ukraine. In this regard, the country imposed martial law.

In turn, reports began in the Russian media about the alleged advance of the Ukrainian troops in the Donbas or in the Crimea. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia also warned against a possible offensive, while Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was preparing a provocation in Crimea before the New Year. No evidence of these allegations, he did not lead.

Russian President Vladimir Putin at a press conference, said that Russia will take those measures to strengthen the defense of the Crimea, which he deems necessary.

On Friday, a multipurpose hydrographic ship of the British Navy arrived at the port of Odessa. British warships will replace each other in the Black Sea and thus be there almost constantly. 21 December it became known that the US State Department will increase the financial support of the Ukrainian Navy by 10 million dollars.

Meanwhile, the UN General Assembly on December 22 adopted a resolution on the human rights situation in the Russian-annexed Crimea and Sevastopol, writes “Currently,".

The document, the text of which was proposed by Ukraine, was supported by 67 countries, including the US and EU countries. 27 delegations voted against - among them Russia, Belarus, China, Syria, Serbia and Venezuela. 70 states abstained.

The resolution condemns both human rights violations on the peninsula and Russia's "illegal establishment of laws, jurisdiction and governance" in Crimea.

Similar resolutions were approved by the UN General Assembly in the previous few years after the annexation of the Crimea. The difference of the current resolution is that it contains the names of the Ukrainian citizens Oleg Sentsov, Vladimir Balukh and Emir-Useyn Kuku, who were arrested and unfairly convicted by the Russian authorities and imprisoned in Russia.

“The General Assembly expresses deep concern at reports that, since 2014, Russian authorities have used torture to obtain false testimony in politically motivated prosecutions, including the case of Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov,” the resolution said.

It also calls on the Russian authorities to abide by the Nelson Mandela Rules — the minimum standard rules for the treatment of prisoners.

Russia annexed Crimea in the 2014 year, the international community considers the peninsula occupied territory of Ukraine.
