An orphan from Ukraine, adopted by an American, became a Paralympic champion in Pkhenchkhane
Three weeks after the elbow injury and one day after she fell and left the race, an American, Oksana Masters, was born in Ukraine and won the gold at the Paralympic Games.
Masters, a four-time Paralympic champion, won the cross-country sprint on Wednesday, March 14, in Pyeongchang. In the race for a distance of a kilometer 1,1, she beat German Andrea Exau for more than two seconds, she writes USA Today.
“I didn’t believe it would happen,” Masters said after the race. “I knew I couldn’t miss the chance in my last race.”
On Tuesday, 14 of March, Oksana had to leave the mid-distance biathlon competition. This happened after the fall. Earlier in the Paralympic Games in Phenchhang, Oksana won silver in biathlon and bronze in the cross-country race.
