Weather forecasters predict increased hurricane activity in 2017

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Exploration Association (NOAA) has published an updated forecast for the Atlantic Ocean hurricane season, according to which increased hurricane activity is expected in 2017.

The probability of hurricane activity is above normal, according to NOAA predictions, and is 65%, reports NBC.

Meteorologists expect that the number of storms that will be given names will be from 14 to 19, and the number of large hurricanes in the remaining period of the season will be from two to five.

NOAA experts noted that storms and hurricanes in the 2017 year began earlier than usual, which also indicates increased activity.

This is due to the warm waters of the Atlantic, whose temperature is above the average for this period, as well as wind activity, which contributes to the formation of hurricanes.

Forecasters noted that until the end of the hurricane season there are still 112 days left, and the people and authorities of the territories in the hurricane zone need to be prepared for weather surprises.
