Governor John Kasich and Lieutenant Governor Marie Taylor issued a corresponding proclamation.
“85 years ago, the communist regime of Joseph Stalin created an artificial famine, taking away grain and other food, in order to suppress the resistance of Ukrainians who resisted the power of the communists and the collectivization of private farms, and was a planned act of genocide of the Ukrainian nation. This led to the death of 5 to 12 million people,” the document says.
It is noted that the Holodomor is recognized as the genocide of the Ukrainian people in the US 12 states.
These states include New York, Washington, Wisconsin, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Missouri.
