School bus with 20 passengers fell into a giant puddle
In Kansas City, a flood bus stuck on a bus with 20 students who had to be rescued from an unexpected water trap. On Monday morning, the bus was heading to Raytown South High School and stuck in a huge puddle on Oldham Road, a street flooded after heavy rain.

“I know everyone was scared,” said 15-year-old Alexis Novello, who was on the bus with her brother, writes The Daily Mail. The girl said that the driver, apparently, did not appreciate the extent of the flood until it was too late.
“I think our driver thought it was just a puddle,” Novello said. “She tried to drive through the water, at first it was as if you were driving a regular car through a puddle, but then there was so much water that we got stuck.”

The girl said that she began to “nervously” call her parents, who got behind the wheel and rushed to the place where the bus was stuck. At the same time, they tried to calm their daughter down over the phone. The same thing happened to her classmates.
“I don’t think anyone realized how bad it was until we started looking out the windows,” Alexis says. “We joked about it, but I know everyone was scared.”

The bus driver called the bus company and 911. Firefighters who came to help helped the school children to leave the bus through the back door. Another bus arrived at the site to take the children to school.
Some parts of Southern Kansas City have received more than a foot (30 cm) of rain since the beginning of the weekend, leading to sudden floods. Locals will have to go through a couple more wet days until the rain calms down on Thursday.
