A sixth grader brought a gun to a school in Idaho and injured three people
A sixth grader brought a pistol to a school in Idaho, shot two students and a caretaker, and was then disarmed by the teacher. The edition told in more detail Business Insider.
All three were injured in the limbs and are expected to be in no danger of their lives, officials said. Jefferson County Sheriff Steve Anderson says the girl pulled a pistol from her backpack and fired several shots inside and outside her school in the small town of Rigby, about 95 miles (145 km) southwest of Yellowstone National Park.
Police said the teacher disarmed the girl and held her until law enforcement officers arrived and took her into custody. The police said they were looking into the motives of the attack and the place where the girl took the gun.
Anderson said she was from the nearby town of Idaho Falls. He did not give her name.
Dr. Michael Lemon, medical director of the trauma unit at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, said the injured adult was healed and released home with a bullet wound to the limb.
According to Lemon, both injured schoolchildren were left in the hospital overnight, one of them may need surgery. However, both students are in good condition. The doctor explained that one of the students may have two gunshot wounds, since both limbs are injured.
The police were called to the school at about 9:15 am after students and staff heard gunfire. Law enforcers reacted immediately and the students were evacuated to a nearby school so that their parents could pick them up.

“My classmates and I were just in class with our teacher doing work. Suddenly, there was a loud noise, followed by two loud sounds. After that we heard a scream,” said 12-year-old Yandel Rodriguez. “Our teacher went to check and saw blood.”
Yandel's mom, Adela Rodriguez, said they were fine, but "still a little shocked" after what happened.
“Today was the worst nightmare a school district could ever face,” said Jefferson School District Superintendent Chad Martin.
He said schools will be closed throughout the district to allow students to stay with their families.
Rigby High School has about 1500 students, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
“I pray for the lives and safety of those involved in today’s tragic events,” Gov. Brad Little said. “Thank you to our law enforcement officers and school officials for their efforts in responding to the incident.”

One of the students of the school, Lucy Long, told how her classmates were scared when they heard the shots. They turned off the lights and computers, then lined up against the wall.
Lucy reassured her friends and began recording on her phone so that the police would know what happened if the shooter walked in. The girl said she saw blood on the floor in the hallway when the police took them out of the classroom.
