Six Russian banks disconnected from Visa and MasterCard systems
Payment systems Visa and MasterCard have stopped servicing the operations of six Russian banks included in the US sanctions list, which was expanded on xnumx.
According to the Russian edition “Ведомости“Genbank”, “Krayinvestbank”, “Verkhnevolzhsky” bank, “Sevastopol Maritime Bank” (SMB), operating in Crimea, as well as “Inresbank” and “Mosoblbank” were disconnected from international payment systems - for the fact that these financial institutions are related to the sanctioned SMP Bank and its shareholders - the Rotenberg brothers.
Earlier, representatives of these banks noted that the sanctions would not affect their work, including in the Crimea.
But already on December 23, a part of operations on the cards of these banks became impossible due to the fact that the international payment systems turned off these banks, having previously sent the corresponding notification.
As the “Forum” wrote, Russian banks have found a way to circumvent Western sanctions.
