Six popular stores that closed all points and went online forever

The retail industry has struggled before the COVID-19 pandemic, but temporary closures, limited store capacity and a general decline in consumer spending have put an even greater strain on retailers across the country. Many well-known chains have filed for bankruptcy or closed their stores, and some have given up their premises altogether and completely transferred their business online. American Apparel

American Apparel founder Dov Charney has been accused of sexual harassment, his racially diverse advertising has been criticized, and sales have plummeted due to controversy (or perhaps because of it). The company filed for bankruptcy twice and closed all of its stores in 2017. Dressbarn opened in 1962 and filed for bankruptcy in 2019. After closing all stores, the retailer turned into an online store in 2020.

Godiva

In January, Godiva announced that it would close all 128 of its North American offices by the end of March. Candy can still be bought online and in other stores.

However, you can shop at the store if traveling abroad. The brand said it will support offices in Europe, the Middle East and China.

Gymboree

Gymboree closed all 800 of its locations after filing for bankruptcy in January 2019. The store was purchased by The Children's Place, and in October 2019, the company announced that it was relaunching Gymboree online—and, technically, in stores, too. Although there are no longer stand-alone Gymboree stores, you can shop the brand's retail locations at select The Children's Place stores in the United States and Canada.

Pier 1 Imports

After the closure of all of its regular stores in October 2020, Pier 1 Imports has relaunched as an online store.
