The US government was partially closed on December 22 due to disagreements between President Trump and Congress about allocating money to build a wall at the border. between the US and Mexico. Since no compromise was reached on the construction of the wall, the government’s closure will last at least until Monday (January 14).

President Trump continues to insist on the need to build a wall and did not rule out the possibility of imposing a state of emergency that would allow the presidential administration to finance the construction of the wall from the defense budget without Congress approval.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House this week, Trump said it would be "weird" if he did not declare a national emergency if talks with Democrats fail.
