Sergey Burunov: “Yakovlev is not a soloist, he exists in an ensemble with other characters”

— When creating the image, what did you start from? Were there any similar or favorite comedy characters whose traits you brought in?

Creating an image, I started from the script, from teamwork with Ilya Kulikov (director and screenwriter), because he very accurately sees the characters of the characters, as well as from his own observations, as I have experience in communicating with people in uniform. I offered something from myself and in the creative dialogue, the image of Yakovlev was born on the platform. And there were no similar favorite comedic characters, this is an absolutely independent story.

- Deep down, is he an unhappy and downtrodden person? Or does this whole movement bring him joy?

He became a hunted and unhappy man because of Grigory Izmailov, who burst into his life and violated his successful equilibrium. He had his own little world, his dream came true, he was in the comfort zone, and Izmailov burst in there like a tornado. Like Shakespeare: "Go soft, you go according to my dreams." And Izmailov does not just go, he stomps. And this whole movement doesn’t deliver Yakovlev at all, his cognitive dissonance has reached a critical level.

— Have you received any feedback about this image? On social networks, on the road from traffic cops, and so on?

They constantly come in, people write a lot of good things in social networks. To my great joy, this character is loved by the viewer. The traffic police officers give honor, do not check the documents sometimes, the Interior Ministry officials call me "colleague", "Vladimir Sergeevich" and "comrade colonel".

— On Instagram, you recently “exceeded” the mark of 500 thousand subscribers. How did you celebrate? What are you striving for? Do they offer advertising and what do you refuse?

Glad this number of subscribers, put a post, thanked everyone. Advertising is offered, but for the most part this is absurd, so I often refuse.

— Can we say that Yakovlev’s role to a certain extent gave impetus to the development of your career?

I won’t be angry with heaven, yes, the role of Yakovlev and in general the project “A Policeman from Rublyovka” played a significant role in my life and in my career. For which I am grateful to Ilya Kulikov, who once believed in me at the casting.

— Don’t you think that Yakovlev is slowly turning from a minor character into the main one?

We have an ensemble, and Yakovlev is not a soloist, he exists in an ensemble with other characters. From this interaction with other heroes who have lines, the circumstances in which they are immersed, and its image. I do not think that he is turning into the main one, but he is already one of the main characters.

And what do you think, why is it always funnier with a mat?

It's funny because that's for sure. After all, it is used in those situations in which it is simply impossible not to use it. This immediately causes a reaction, because it is recognizable. And where to put it? This is the language of the streets!
