The US Senate Judicial Committee published the testimony of witnesses in the case of Donald Trump Jr. meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. At this meeting, Veselnitskaya was going to give Trump’s team compromising the billionaire’s main rival, Hillary Clinton, writes RBC.

Senators disclosed documents containing the testimony of Trump Jr. and Veselnitskaya, journalist Glenn Simpson, who was investigating Trump's relations with Russia, ex-employee of the GRU USSR USSR, working in a lobbying company Human Rights Accountability, and other individuals.

Polls participants meeting held Trump Tower in June, 2016 of the year and which became the reason for a major scandal, were held from August of 2017 to March of 2018. The Senate’s Legal Committee interrogated most of the witnesses, but some of them did not meet with the senators. So, Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner refused to give evidence to the Senate Committee voluntarily. Fully all the investigation materials have not yet been published.

Among the disclosed materials were the testimony of the organizer of the meeting, Rob Goldstone. According to him, he expected from the meeting to receive "irrefutable evidence" of the existence of compromising materials on Hillary Clinton. At the same time, at a hearing in the Senate, he admitted that, despite this, he had previously believed that such a meeting was a bad idea. "I just sent someone an email in which he wrote that I was collecting a meeting that would bring you dangerous information about one of the participants in the race," he explained.

Donald Trump Jr., in his testimony, stated that he did not notify his father about the meeting in advance, not wanting to give him "unverified information." He explained that he wanted to assess in advance the importance of the data that Veselnitskaya had intended to convey to him. “I did not have the opportunity to assess the origin of this information, but I was ready to listen to it,” he explained.

The total volume of published materials was more than 2 thousand sheets of text.

Trump Jr. and Veselnitskaya have met в Trump Tower in June 2016 of the year after the nomination of Donald Trump for the presidential election. The reason for the meeting was Veselnitskaya's proposal to provide compromising material to another candidate for the US presidency - Democrat Hillary Clinton. This information was confirmed by Trump Junior himself. Veselnitskaya, in turn, stated that she wanted to tell the Trump team about the company's activities. Ziff Brothers Investments William Browder, who, according to her, shied away from paying taxes in Russia and sent money to the needs of the Democrats during the election campaign of Hillary Clinton.
