The US Senate has reached a deal on the budget for the next two years.

The leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties in the Senate reached a compromise on the parameters of the US budget for 2 year, reports CNN.

The deal was presented together by the leader of the Senate majority Mitch McConnell and the minority leader Chuck Schumer. The agreement proposes to increase the military and non-military expenditures of the Department of Defense by 300 billion dollars over the next two years, as well as an increase in the budget for assistance in case of natural disasters by more than 80 billion dollars. Of the 300 billion, about 160 billion dollars will go to the Pentagon, and about 128 billion dollars will be spent on non-defense programs.

The key problem in the negotiations was how high the national debt bar would rise. This item was still under discussion when the leaders of the Senate parties announced that a deal had been reached.

According to sources of the publication, the senators were able to agree that the national debt will be increased, but the timing of the increase is still being discussed. The White House insists on an increase that will last two years. Congressmen insist on a less aggressive version.

A vote on the agreed bill is expected in the Senate on February 8, after which it must be approved by the House of Representatives, where there may be problems, since many House Democrats have previously said they will not agree to increase defense spending until an agreement is reached on the fate of the “Dreamers.” — illegal immigrants brought to the country as children were previously protected by the federal DACA program, but Trump canceled it, giving Congress until March 5, 2018, to develop a replacement, when “Dreamers” could begin to be deported.

If the House of Representatives approves the draft, then it will need a presidential signature to become effective.

If congressmen fail to reach an agreement, then at the end of this week the country may again face “shatdaun“—suspension of government funding.
