Family accuses Delta of trying to hide a dog's death

Michael Delegraise said that his puppy named Alejandro was found dead last Wednesday in a carry bag with a bloody blanket during a flight to Detroit airport.

A dog owner’s lawyer suggested that someone tried to wash the blanket and carry it for the dog to get rid of the evidence.

“It was wet,” said defense attorney Evan Oshan. “They couldn’t wash off the blood stains.” There was an attempt to clean it up."

Oshan said the dog traveled in the cargo hold of the Phoenix flight to Newark, New Jersey.

According to WDIV, the dog was alive when the plane landed in Detroit during a halt.

Almost two hours later, the dog was found dead in the airport transfer.

“When he landed here in Michigan, he was alive at 6:30 a.m., and then at 8:20 a.m. he wasn't moving, and it's just terrible,” Delegreise said, adding that the 8-year-old dog received physical training before the trip.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death of the animal.

Michael Delegate also requires an explanation from the airline.

“We lost a family member,” Delegreise said. “This is exactly what happened, and someone needs to be held accountable for it.”

Representative Delta said the airline "conducts a thorough investigation" of the incident.
