A Scottish military instructor in Ukraine was arrested for spying for Russia.
A Scotsman who worked as a military instructor in Ukraine but was recruited to work for Russian intelligence has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison in the country, reports Air force.
Ross David Cutmore, from Dunfermline, Fife, admitted passing on "unauthorised information" about the location of Ukrainian units, as well as details of foreign military instructors.
Cutmore, who arrived in Ukraine in early 2024, was accused of discussing terrorist attacks and illegally possessing a pistol provided by the Russian side.

According to Ukrainian authorities, on April 30, he pleaded guilty in the Kyiv District Court of Odessa as part of a plea agreement and cooperated with the investigation.
He was detained last year following an investigation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The investigation established that he transmitted the coordinates of the location of Ukrainian forces, photographs of training grounds, and information about military personnel.
In addition, Katmor collected data on targets in Odessa, discussed the possibility of using explosive devices, and attempted to gain access to the command of military units.
For completing one of the tasks, he allegedly received $6000.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the Scotsman arrived in the country in January 2024 to work as an instructor, but in September of that year he ceased this activity and began looking for "easy money" in pro-Kremlin online communities.
Over time, he was recruited by an employee of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), who offered him a cash reward for his cooperation.

Ukrainian authorities stated that, among other things, Katmor received instructions from the FSB to prepare a series of terrorist attacks.
According to them, he was given instructions on how to make an improvised explosive device, as well as the coordinates of a weapons cache, from which he took a Makarov pistol with two loaded magazines.
Last October, SBU counterintelligence officers detained him while he was preparing terrorist attacks.
