Safest airlines in the world in 2016
On Tuesday, AirlineRatings.com published an annual ranking of the safest airlines in the world, once again led by Australian Qantas.
In the twenty safest included:

- Japan Airlines, Japan.

- Scandinavian Airline System, Sweden.
- Singapore Airlines, Singapore.
- Swiss, Switzerland.
- United Airlines, USA.
- Virgin Atlantic, United Kingdom.
- Virgin Australia, Australia.
According to Jeffrey Thomas, the evaluation criteria include the results of inspections of companies by aviation departments and associations, the number and nature of incidents, and the quality of work. A total of 449 airlines were reviewed, 149 of them received the highest rating of seven stars, and already among them a dozen of the safest were selected.
The portal also published a list of the safest low-cost airlines - in alphabetical order, these are Aer Lingus (Ireland), Alaska Airlines (USA), Icelandair (Iceland), JetBlue (USA), Jetstar (Australia), Kulula.com (South Africa), Monarch Airlines (United Kingdom), Thomas Cook (United Kingdom), TUIfly (Germany) and WestJet (Canada).
The general statistics of accidents is as follows: for every 1,3 million flights, there is one accident.
The most unsafe, receiving only one star in the rating, were four airlines: two Nepalese - Tara Air and Nepal Airlines, Kazakhstan SCAT Airlines and Afghan Kam Air.
The list of countries that, according to the portal, do not meet international safety standards, is headed by the United States.
