Five people died, and two more were injured on Sunday, February 3, when a plane crashed into a residential area in Southern California.
According to authorities, residents of the Yorba Linda area were in a panic around 2 hours of the day when a small plane began to fall apart in the air, scattering debris throughout the area.
When two large parts of the plane crashed into the roof, the two-story house was engulfed in flames. As a result, four passengers and the pilot died.
Authorities reported that after the incident, two more people were taken to a local hospital with injuries.
According to a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, the twin-engine Cessna 414A departed from Fullerton Municipal Airport, about 12 miles west of the crash site.
According to photographs and video posted on the Internet, the Yorba Lind area, located about 30 miles south-east of Los Angeles, was covered with smoke and debris after the accident and subsequent fire.
“There was a boom. It looks like something exploded. Our house shook,” John Wohlbart, a Yorba Linda resident, told The Associated Press.
Clint Langford, another neighbor, remembered hearing a rumbling sound just before the crash.
“It was scary,” Langford told the AP. “And then suddenly - boom.”
Near the 70 firefighters, as well as representatives of the Orange County Sheriff's Department, arrived at the site of the fire.
