Aircraft TU-154 disappeared from radar screens after departure from Sochi

The Russian TU-154 plane disappeared from radar screens a few hours after taking off from Sochi, Interfax reports. The plane belongs to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Later, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that there were 83 passengers and 8 crew members on board. Interfax.

“In addition to military personnel, there are artists and journalists. According to preliminary data, the plane that disappeared from radar could have fallen into the sea near Sochi,” emphasized an Interfax source in the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Interfax reports that the plane disappeared from radar while flying over the Black Sea. The same agency reports that the plane was flying to Syria.

“All search and rescue services of the aviation units of the Southern Military District in the Krasnodar Territory and neighboring regions have been involved in the search for the aircraft,” the message says.
