Passengers taking off on April 12 from London to Lisbon arrived in the Portuguese capital with a long delay. Instead of a direct flight from Gatwick Airport to the capital of Portugal, they were forced to get from Porto by bus.

The plane EasyJet airline, following on Friday, 12 April, on the route from London to Lisbon, landed passengers in Porto and flew without them, writes RBC.

The plane failed to land in the Portuguese capital due to the temporary closure of the runway at the local airport. After landing at the Port, passengers were disembarked from the plane and informed that they need to be refueled. Five hours later, passengers were announced that the plane had flown to Lisbon, but without them. In return, the airline offered them a shuttle bus to the capital of Portugal.

The EasyJet airline confirmed to Surrey Live that the EJU8717 flight from London had landed in Porto because of the closure of the strip in Lisbon, and that passengers were dropped off at the airport “for the sake of their comfort”.

According to the airline, the closure of the runway led to the fact that "the crew exceeded the statutory working time limit." Therefore, passengers were offered vouchers for drinks and a shuttle bus to Lisbon.

"After the passengers landed [in Porto], a slot became available in the schedule, so the plane went to Lisbon empty," - said the representative of the airline.

“We would like to apologize to the passengers for the inconvenience and thank them for their patience,” he added.
