US reconnaissance aircraft made a flight near the Crimea

During the November 25 flight, this US naval reconnaissance aircraft with a tail number 168998 was intercepted by a Russian Su-30 fighter over the international waters of the Black Sea. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the US reconnaissance aircraft did not respond to signals and was rapidly approaching the Russian border.

“The crew of the Russian aircraft (Su-30) approached to a safe distance, identified and classified the air object as an American P8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft. The pilot of the Russian Su-30 signaled to the foreign aircraft the need to change course in connection with the approach to the state border of the Russian Federation in the airspace,” Lieutenant General Viktor Sevostyanov, commander of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Southern Military District, told the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper. .

“Despite the signals sent by the Russian fighter, the crew of the American reconnaissance aircraft did not change course and continued to rapidly approach the border. Only after this the crew of the Russian fighter carried out the maneuver,” said the lieutenant general, talking about the events of November 25.

The Pentagon then reported that a Russian Su-30 fighter had carried out an “unsafe” interception of a US Navy aircraft over the Black Sea. P-8A Poseidon.

According to Pentagon spokeswoman Michelle Baldanza, the actions of the Russian fighter were qualified as unsafe due to the fact that he crossed the course of the American aircraft from right to left, resulting in Poseidon got caught in the jet stream of a Russian plane.
