An American Airlines plane made an emergency landing in Miami due to a pungent smell in the cabin: 5 people were hospitalized
An American Airlines flight from Miami, Florida was forced to make an emergency landing. The edition told in more detail CBS News.

Flight 338 was bound for Barbados but returned to Miami International Airport after several people felt unwell. The Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Department said firefighters have assessed the condition of the passengers and crew. As a precaution, five of them were taken to the hospital.

American Airlines said the five people taken to the hospital were crew members and none of the passengers were hospitalized. The Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Service said there were 173 passengers on the flight.
The airline explained that the plane turned around after a chemical pungent smell from the hand luggage of one of the passengers spread throughout the cabin.

A source familiar with the situation said that the smell came from nail polish remover.
According to the carrier, the plane landed safely, passengers were offered accommodation in a hotel.
