GOP Congress: Will Trump's nomination be blocked?
From 18 to 21 in July, the Republican Party will make its choice regarding its candidacy for president and vice president of the United States in the upcoming elections in November.
However, important preliminary meetings will be held this week in Cleveland, Ohio, where the Republicans forum will take place, during which, as reported, opponents of Donald Trump inside the party will make their final attempts to prevent the billionaire businessman from getting a nomination.
Following the primaries and caucuses, Trump scored a few hundred more than required 1237 votes.
Republicans are planning to consider a few significant changes to the rules of the convention. Among other things, delegates may be exempted from the need to vote for the candidate who won the primaries or caucuses in their state.
The meeting of the influential rules committee, which includes the 112 man, will be held on Thursday or Friday. As expected, the discussion of all the stated points will take about 11 hours.
Opponents of the absolute leader of the election race among Republicans also intend to do everything possible to make it easier for delegates to block Trump’s candidacy for the post of vice president in the event of his victory.
In addition, delegates may exclude independent voters from voting. As you know, Trump in the primaries and caucuses received great support from those who voted who were not registered as members of the party.
Republicans are also expected to discuss the political platform of the party at the upcoming congress, because opinions on topics such as taxes, foreign policy and same-sex marriage often differ dramatically.
The congress of the US Democratic Party, the undisputed favorite of which is ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, will be held on July 25-28 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
