The hearse left the Sakharov Center amid shouts of “Russia will be free!”, “Heroes do not die!” and applause.
The ceremony lasted more than 4 hours, the queue stretched for more than a kilometer, and not everyone could say goodbye to Nemtsov.
The Russian opposition members Mikhail Kasyanov, Ilya Yashin, Grigory Yavlinsky, Sergey Mitrokhin and other Nemtsov associates came to the ceremony. Representatives of the Russian government were also noticed.
The mourning ceremony was attended by US Ambassador to Russia John Tefft and ambassadors of all 28 countries of the European Union.
As the head of the EU Delegation in Russia, Vygaudas Usackas, said, the murder of Nemtsov shook the entire civilized world, because he defended the values that the European Union shares.
