Growling and shouting 'Joe Biden': an inadequate passenger turned an American Airlines flight into a nightmare

On an American Airlines flight, a passenger behaved inappropriately, growled and shouted “Joe Biden,” reports NBC News.

Timothy Armstrong, 61, of Las Vegas, was charged with disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct during a flight from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City, police said.

The incident was partially captured on video of 61-year-old Timothy Armstrong pointing and yelling at people on flight 1802 from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. He also constantly jumped up from his seat. At one point in the video, the flight attendant demanded that Armstrong sit down until the plane touched down. Armstrong then yells, “Joe Biden! Truth?".

Dennis Bush, 35, from Salt Lake City, filmed Armstrong and thanked the airline's crew for how they handled the situation.

“He started by yelling at an Asian woman who was standing in front of me trying to move her luggage so she could sit down,” he said. “He continued to say that she and her companion “didn’t belong here.” After being asked by a flight attendant to calm down, the man went into a full-on racist, sexist and belligerent comments that led to his arrest upon arrival."

“We were fortunate to have such a well-trained crew who remained calm throughout the flight,” he continued.

An American Airlines spokesman said Armstrong was met by law enforcement officials after arriving at Salt Lake City International Airport. The flight carried 162 passengers, including six crew members.

“The flight landed safely at SLC, where local law enforcement removed the offending passenger from the aircraft,” the spokesperson said. “We thank our team for their professionalism and our customers for their understanding.”

Police said airport staff were called to the airport shortly before 13:00 pm. to report a passenger under the influence of alcohol. Police said Armstrong was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. It is unclear whether he received a lawyer.
