Rudy Giuliani canceled a visit to Ukraine and a meeting with Zelensky because of 'the enemies of the US president'
9 May reported that the personal attorney of US President Donald Trump Rudolph Giuliani going to Kiev, where he is scheduled to meet with the elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. A day later, Giuliani announced that he was canceling the trip. The reason is “people who are enemies of the President and the United States.”
10 May evening news release Fox News Giuliani said that he would not go to Ukraine, as previously announced.
Rudy Giuliani, a Republican and former mayor of New York, said he expected that during the visit he could "find himself among a group of people who are enemies of the president, and in some cases enemies of the United States and in one case an already convicted man who was involved in helping Democrats organize an investigation into the 2016 election."
"There was a serious concern that the new [Ukrainian] president would be surrounded, literally, by enemies of the [United States] president and people who - in at least one case - are clearly corrupt and involved in this scheme," he told TV host Shannon Bream on "Fox News @ Night."
Giuliani noted that his decisions have nothing to do with the upcoming US presidential election in 2020.

Brim asked about the fallout from Giuliani's initial announcement of the decision to go, including U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy's request that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee launch an investigation into the situation.
“Rudolph Giuliani, the President's personal lawyer, appears to have held meetings with Ukrainian officials in the United States and plans to travel to Ukraine for further discussions,” Murphy wrote in a letter to committee Chairman Sen. James Risch. “To our knowledge, none of these meetings are coordinated with the US State Department or other government agencies.”

Giuliani said he would welcome a Murphy hearing and could present "incredibly damaging evidence about members of the [Democratic National Committee], members of the Clinton campaign, who were there gathering information that had a negative impact on the Trump campaign."
The ex-mayor also pointed to evidence that in 2020, former Vice President Joe Biden wrongfully put pressure on the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko and the country's parliament, demanding the dismissal of Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin in March of 2016.
At the same time, Biden's son Hunter worked on the board of directors. Ukrainian gas company Burisma Holdingsbelonging to oligarch Nikolai Zlochevsky, whose case was investigated by the same prosecutor.

Soon Shokin was shot by the Ukrainian parliament. After leaving his post, Biden admitted that he threatened not to give Ukraine 1 a billion dollars in loan guarantees if Shokin would not be dismissed.
“It smells bad, the facts are stubborn, and ultimately it will have to be investigated,” Giuliani said, adding that to avoid any “policy overtures” he was going to “stand back and just watch things unfold.”
