Russian arrested in Spain at the request of the United States

A Russian citizen was detained at the airport of the Spanish city of Valencia at the request of the United States. He was going on vacation with his wife and 7-year-old son. This was reported at the Russian Embassy in Madrid, writes RIA News".

The incident occurred on 20 of September. The detainee was visited by an employee of the Consulate General of Russia in Barcelona.

“A local lawyer is handling his case. The embassy is closely monitoring the development of the situation,” the diplomatic mission said.

Russian citizen Alexander K. flew to Spain with his wife and son. He was detained at the request of the FBI. The United States issued an international arrest warrant for the man, suspecting him of “participating in a million-dollar fraud that he committed via the Internet using false documentation.”

The FBI contacted the Spanish police to agree on the arrest of a Russian on an international warrant. He is accused of involvement in Internet fraud on a particularly large scale using fake documents. Writes about this “Interfax”.

“Russian citizen Alexander K. was planning a holiday trip to Spain with his wife and seven-year-old son, not suspecting that his days of freedom were numbered. As soon as he got off the plane, he was detained by two national police officers who were waiting for the Russian at Valencia airport,” local media write.

In the near future, a citizen of the Russian Federation will be delivered to the National Court of Spain.
