Russian sue the state money for torture
The Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan ordered the Ministry of Finance to pay 80 thousand rubles ($1500) in favor of Oscar Krylov, the victim in the case of torture at the Dalniy police department.
At the same time Krylov himself demanded to pay him 750 thousands (14 150 dollars). Thus, the amount was reduced almost 11 times. The defense of Krylov has already promised to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court of Tatarstan.
Krylov’s lawsuit became the first statement considered in court in the case of compensation for victims of the actions of Dalniy employees.
Oscar Krylov was detained in October 2011 of the year and taken to the department. Police officers drew up a report on the man, which stated that he loudly swore at passers-by. Demanding a confession, the investigators, according to the investigation, applied violence to the detainee. Later, administrative proceedings were closed. As compensation, Krylov received 8 thousand rubles.
The case of the Dalniy OP became widely known in March 2012, when a man detained at the department died. During the investigation, it was established that torture was repeatedly used against detainees at Dalny.
