Russia called the crash of А321 a terrorist act and voiced a reward for information
The cause of the crash of the Russian A321 aircraft over the Sinai was a terrorist attack with an improvised explosive device with a power of up to one kilogram in TNT. This was announced by the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Alexander Bortnikov, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the transcript of which is published on the Kremlin website.
“We can definitely say that this is a terrorist act,” Bortnikov said. According to him, traces of foreign-made explosives were found on the wreckage and belongings.
“According to our experts, a home-made explosive device with a power of up to 1 kg in TNT equivalent went off on board the aircraft during the flight, which resulted in the aircraft “falling apart” in the air, which explains the scattering of parts of the aircraft fuselage over a long distance,” said the head of the FSB .
He explained that research was carried out on personal belongings, luggage and parts of the liner that crashed in Egypt on October 31.
"Find and punish"
In turn, Putin said that Russia would find terrorists anywhere in the world and punish.
All those who try to assist the terrorists should know that the consequences of such concealment will lie entirely on their shoulders, the president stressed.
Putin instructed the special services of Russia to focus on finding those involved in the terrorist attack.
For information about those involved in the explosion aboard the A321 liner that crashed on the Sinai Peninsula, a 50 million dollar reward has been announced.
“For providing information facilitating the arrest of criminals, a reward of 50 million US dollars will be paid,” said the Public Relations Center of the FSB of Russia.
