Russia has added five countries to the food embargo list

Russia has expanded the list of countries in respect of which the food embargo applies. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

The sanctions apply to Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Ukraine is included in the list “under special conditions”.

According to news agencies, restrictions on the importation of products from Ukraine will enter in the event that an association agreement with the European Union begins to operate.

“The accession of other countries to the sanctions meant their readiness for Russia’s retaliatory measures,” Medvedev explained.

Late July Montenegro, Albania, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Ukraine joined to the EU sanctions extended in relation to Russia.

Russia in August 2014 of the year imposed an embargo on the import of products food from the countries that imposed sanctions on it because of the annexation of the Crimea and the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
