Russian prostitute accused of extortion of $ 400 thousand from the ex-governor of New York

In New York, the court appointed a pledge of $ 1 million to Russian citizen Svetlana Zakharova, who is accused of extortion from New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer about $ 400 thousand.

25-year-old Svetlana Zakharova, known by the name Travis, threatened the ex-governor to tell all the details of their intimate games to the Spitzer family, as well as to the media. This was told by the prosecutor Thomas Boyle, who was appointed after Cyrus Vance’s self-withdrawal because of his personal relationship with the former governor.

From 2014 to 2016, Travis, who received $ 5000 per night in an escort, involved Spitzer in a sophisticated extortionary scheme, where he regularly paid money.

“For over 2 years, [Spitzer] has been forced to regularly pay the defendant [between] $3000 and $50,” Boyle explained as Zakharova cried and trembled in court. The prosecutor also added that the Russian woman transferred a lot of money to Russian banks.

“And they had a short, friendly conversation, and then Spitzer left,” claims Spitzer’s lawyer, Kaifman. However, the Russian woman called him a few hours later and asked him to return. She was very agitated and threatened to hurt herself. The woman called 911 saying she had cut herself. Two law enforcement officials familiar with the case said she was upset and confused. Soon Svetlana called and tried to cancel the call, but the police were already on their way.

Upon arrival, the guards noticed a cut on the hand of a Russian woman and sent her to the hospital. There she told the doctors that Spitzer was choking her. She did not press charges against the ex-governor and flew to Russia the very next day.

The court of New York appointed Zakharova bail in the amount of $ 1 million.
