Russian programmer convicted in US for cybercrime deported to homeland
Russian programmer Stanislav Lisov, convicted in the US for cybercrime, deported to his homeland. US immigration officials put Lisov on an Aeroflot take-off flight from New York to Moscow. At the end of November 2019, a court in New York sentenced a Russian programmer to four years in prison on charges of conspiracy to commit hacker attacks. Earlier, Lisov pleaded guilty. Given the time spent in prison during the investigation, Lisov was to be released after four or five months. In addition, by decision of the court, Lisov must pay a fine of $ 50 thousand and reimburse $ 480 thousand of damage to victims of his actions.
Stanislav Lisov was detained at the airport in Barcelona in January 2017. In the summer of 2017, the Russian was deported to the United States. Earlier, he appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to prevent his extradition to the United States, where, on the aggregate of charges, he faced up to 35 years in prison.

US authorities consider Lisov to be involved in the spread of the NeverQuest computer virus. According to US intelligence agencies, the virus provided access to computers of financial institutions and stole bank account information. During the trial, the Russian admitted to stealing $ 855 thousand from accounts in American banks.
In 2017, at least five alleged hackers from Russia were arrested in Europe at the request of the United States in Europe. Arrests took place in the background American investigation into Russia's possible interference in the presidential election. Moscow denies resorting to hackers to ensure the election of Donald Trump as US president. There is no extradition treaty between Moscow and Washington.
