The Tu-154 plane of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which crashed on December 25, fell into the Black Sea at speeds over 500 km / h.

At the time of the tragedy, he tried to make a maneuver to the right and flew with a strongly upraised nose, reports TASS with reference to the source in power structures.

“The crash occurred when the pilots were retracting the high-lift devices (in the extended state, the wing increases lift). At the same time, for still unclear reasons, the plane was flying at a high pitch angle. Apparently, he fell off the echelon during a maneuver to the right. As a result, at the end of the turn, he collided with the surface of the water with a left roll at a speed of about 510 km/h,” the source said.

Pitch angle is the angle between the longitudinal (nose to tail) axis of the aircraft and the horizontal plane. At a large positive pitch angle (nose up), the airliner can reach critical levels and lose lift, then the so-called stall occurs.

According to another source of the Russian agency, “the Tu-154 was flying with an excessively high angle of attack and was swinging from side to side.”

Experts involved in the investigation of the tragedy, do not exclude that the disaster could happen due to a combination of several reasons at the same time, among which may be erroneous actions of the crew and the failure of one of the engines.

On December 27, rescuers recovered all three flight recorders from the bottom of the Black Sea, reports “New time«.

According to preliminary data, all of them are subject to decoding.

Rescuers lifted the first “black box” from the bottom on the morning of December 27 and have already managed to decipher it.

“The conversation is interrupted by one of the pilots exclaiming: “Flaps, bitch!” And then a cry sounds: “Commander, we’re falling!” said a source close to the investigation.

He said that investigators are inclined to believe that the plane crashed due to a “stall.”

“According to preliminary data, the flaps on board operated inconsistently, as a result of their failure, lift was lost, the speed was not sufficient to gain altitude, and the plane crashed,” the source said.

For whatever reason, the flaps did not work properly until it is installed.
