Russian hackers stole data on the introduction of the US in the networks of other countries

Hackers working for the Russian government stole the details of how the US National Security Agency penetrates foreign computer networks and protects its networks from cyber attacks. About it сообщает The Wall Street Journal, with reference to the sources.

It was possible to steal data after an employee of the Agency posted a high degree of secrecy material on his home computer.

The incident occurred back in the 2015 year, but they only learned about it in the spring of 2016. Russian hackers attacked the computer of an NSA employee after they identified the necessary files using antivirus software created by Russian Kaspersky Lab installed on his computer. The incident is rated by experts as one of the most significant security breaches in recent years.

The stolen material contained: information about how the NSA penetrates the computer networks of other countries; computer code used for such espionage; information about the protection of the network within the United States. Having such information could provide the Russian government with information on how to protect its own networks in order to obstruct the work of the NSA, as well as how to penetrate the US network.

The representation of the NSA stated that “regardless of whether the information is reliable, the NSA policy does not allow commenting on internal issues or personnel issues.” The NSA stressed that they do not use anti-virus software from Kaspersky Lab.

In turn, Kaspersky Lab stated that the sources of the publication did not provide "evidence supporting this alleged incident, so we believe that this is another example of a false accusation."

Recall in September the US Department of Homeland Security announced a ban on the use of products of the Russian "Kaspersky Lab" in US government agencies. This happened due to the fact that the United States suspects the company in cooperation with the Russian special services.
