Kindergarten massacre in New York: 3 baby and 2 adults injured

At least five people, including three young children, were stabbed as a result of an incident that occurred in a night kindergarten in Queens, New York.

Among the victims are two girls and one boy aged from three days to one month, as well as two adults - a man and a woman. All of them are in the hospital in critical but stable condition, writes CNN.

The massacre took place at about Friday morning at 4, clarifies NBC New York. At that time, nine children were in the center, as well as parents of some of them.

Police said the sixth wounded, 52-year-old woman was found in the basement of a Flushing day care kindergarten on 161 Street with a cut left wrist. At the site it turned out that she had hurt herself. She was the culprit of everything that happened that night.

Now the suspect is under the supervision of police in the nearest hospital. The woman was an employee of the institution and after the attack on the children she tried to commit suicide. Two knives were seized from her.

The wounded man was stabbed in the leg. He is the father of one of the children who attends the daycare, but there is no word on whether his child was injured. The injured woman, a kindergarten employee, was wounded in the chest. Both are being treated in hospital.

The motives for the crime have not yet been established.

A red brick apartment building in the Flushing district of Quincy was used as a kindergarten, although the institution did not have a licensed license.

This place is not on the list of licensed child care facilities at the New York City Office for Children and Family Affairs (OCFS). Therefore, the agency began to investigate the activities of the kindergarten.

New York State-approved child care programs prohibit kindergartens from taking care of babies younger than 6 weeks if they have not received prior approval from OCFS.

The city’s building department has previously received several complaints about possible illegal use of the building, including the complainants supposed that the house was being used as a hotel. The inspectors came to the building several times, but could not get inside.

In 2011, the city’s hotline also received a complaint that the building was “shouting children”.
