'I decided to work as a taxi driver': ex-resident of the Comedy Club Tahir Mammadov told about moving to the USA and lack of money

Tahir Mamedov spoke about the difficult move to America and the problems he had to face. Now the comedian’s life has improved - he is engaged in business, but until recently he was planning to work as a taxi driver, he writes “Star Hit«.

Ten years ago, any Russian humorist could envy Tair Mamedov’s career - the actor starred in the Comedy Club and tried his hand at directing. It seemed that after such a successful start, all the doors were opened before him, but the showman decided to radically change his life and moved to the USA in 2014. “I took with me 200 thousand dollars. I received a residence permit for ten years, but the money ran out pretty quickly, ”said the former resident of the Comedy club in an interview with Yuri Dudiu.

When Tahir touched a serious financial crisis, he had to look for new opportunities to realize his talents. In Los Angeles, Mamedov had no friends, no useful contacts, so there could not be a talk about a career on the stage. Desperate, the humorist even decided to go work as a taxi driver.

“I really wanted to work as a taxi driver. Even the application has already downloaded. Then I thought about mowing the grass - this is a popular job for visitors: they pay well, but they don’t ask for documents, ”Mammadov said.

Only a few months later, the affairs of the humorist went uphill. He opened a museum of selfies, and is now actively developing his own business. According to Tahir, it was not easy to get used to the sudden decrease in income, but now he is satisfied with his earnings. “When I was at the Comedy Club, I earned more than I could spend. Like any person from an ordinary Soviet family, I threw out money for everything. Now, of course, there is no such income. I get less than ten thousand dollars, but I strive to grow, ”admitted the artist.

In the US, Tahir was able to arrange a personal life. Almost immediately after the move, he met a girl, and now they are raising two children.

“My children have dual citizenship. They will decide for themselves where to live and where to get an education, ”Tair said.

The artist does not hide that he had good reasons to move. While Mamedov is not going to return to Russia. Of course, the artist misses the former company and friends, but in the USA he already had a new social circle. The humorist makes no secret of the fact that he is still sometimes recognized on the street, but, of course, there is no talk about the former popularity.
