Republicans face historic defeat in the November elections, with their approval ratings at record lows.

The Republican Party could suffer "historic losses" in the upcoming congressional elections: new polls show the party's candidates trailing in eight crucial Senate races, a leading party strategist warned. Independent.

"This just reinforces the obvious: Republicans are heading into the midterms in a pretty tough spot and are at risk of historic losses," said GOP strategist Terry Holt.

"The question is whether we can save at least some seats through some incredible level of turnout, which will likely require enormous costs, or whether we can fundamentally change the public mood in the country," Holt added.

The poll results come as President Donald Trump has resumed strikes on Iran and the rising cost of living remains a top issue for voters.

"The Republican Party's national ranks have been warning since last year that the midterms are a tough test, and we have consistently insisted that no race is guaranteed," said another Republican strategist involved in the campaign.

However, not everyone in the party is ready to fully trust the published data. Veteran Republican pollster Jim McLaughlin noted that "Republicans are in much better shape than many of these media polls indicate," referring to closed internal research.

"Election Day is still a long way off," he added.

Although the president's name won't appear on the ballot this time, Republican candidates and party officials in key states are counting on Trump to actively support them. He already did so in South Carolina, where he endorsed Darlene Graham Nordon, the sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.

The Trump-linked super PAC MAGA Inc. spent more than $800,000 on advertising and organizing to secure her the Republican Senate nomination.

One strategist involved in several key races told Politico that it's "time for the president and his allies to either act or shut up."

"There's an opportunity to make a significant difference in September and October, but there's no sense of urgency or understanding that we're seriously lagging behind in a number of states," he explained.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham last week called on Republicans to "get down to business" ahead of the election, and conservative activist Ned Ryan, who leads America Majority, warned that the party risks losing control of both the House and the Senate.
