In California, an emergency was declared due to fires: the cause of one of them was a party with pyrotechnics
California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency in five counties on Sunday, Aug. 6, as numerous wildfires continue to rage across the state, resulting in both record high temperatures and record-breaking land burns. Writes about it CNN.
The state of emergency extends to Fresno, Madera and Mariposa counties, where the Creek Fire is raging, and San Bernardino and San Diego counties, where El Dorado Fire and Valley Fire are raging, respectively, the state emergency services department (Cal OES) said in a statement.
According to a Cal OES statement, tens of thousands of acres were burned in three fires, which also destroyed homes and forced the evacuation of thousands of residents.
Hundreds of people saved after the fire
A dangerous fire, caused by high temperatures and dry weather conditions, led to a massive air rescue operation that saved dozens of people. They were celebrating Labor Day near Mammoth Pool Reservoir when a wall of flames blocked the roads in Maderas County.

More than 200 people were flown by Chinook and Blackhawk helicopters. This was announced by David Hall of the California National Guard at a press conference on Sunday.

According to him, the rescue operation began late Saturday, August 5, and ended around 1:30 on Sunday, August 6. The rescue teams decided to load as many people on board as possible during the second call as weather conditions worsened.
"We don't like to operate this way, but because it was a life-threatening emergency, the pilots and command made the smart decision," Hall said.
Hall reported that two people were seriously injured.
Fires burned thousands of acres
According to the Cal Fire website, the Sierra Nevada Creek Fire burned 45 acres (500 ha) and as of Monday morning, Aug. 18, it had failed to be localized. The fire started on Friday evening, August 423, northeast of Lake Shaver, and its cause is still being investigated.
The Valley Fire in San Diego County, southeast of Alpine, has burned 9850 acres (3 hectares) since August 986, and has been able to contain 5% of it. Eleven buildings were destroyed in the fire and the area was evacuated.
In San Bernardino County, El Dorado Fire, which kicked off at a pyrotechnic baby sex party, burned 7050 acres (2 ha) of land at a 853% containment rate.
Evacuation of residents of Oak Glen, Ukaipa Ridge, Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls ordered. More than 500 people, 60 vehicles and four helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fire. No one has yet been accused of this fire.

There are also several lightning-ignited fires across the state that account for more than 850 acres burned—the SCU, CZU, and LNU fires.
Records are broken across the state
This year of wildfires was the worst in California history in terms of the amount of land burned. The state broke its record for most parched land across the state on Sunday, Aug. 6, with an area affected by 2 acres (094 hectares).
"This is madness. We're not even into October and November, which is fire season, and we've already broken all the records,” said California Fire Department Capt. Richard Cordova.

The National Inter-Agency Fire Center (NIFC) last week released a national fire forecast for September and October, which predicts a sharp increase in fire activity in the West, depending on weather conditions.
At least 10 heat records were set this weekend, according to a warning from the National Weather Service.

It was the hottest period in more than half a century, with seven other records set in the 1950s broken on Aug. 6 in various parts of the state, the warning says.
In Los Angeles County, where at least two fires are still burning, temperatures reached a record high of 121 degrees Fahrenheit (49,4 Celsius) on Sunday in Woodland Hills. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles also reported 117 degrees Fahrenheit (47,2 Celsius) in Paso Robles, making it the highest temperature ever recorded in San Luis Obispo County.
