The child lost his eyes playing with the most popular Nerf pistol

A nine-year-old boy, who was shot with a toy arrow in his eye six years ago, was not lucky twice: recently, his friend shot a Nerf toy pistol into the same eye, damaging the organ so much that this time it had to be removed.

Taylor-Jay Ravicini from Swansea in Wales was only 3 years old when the first incident occurred, writes the New York Post. Doctors saved his eye then, but now the unfortunate schoolboy's mother is raising funds to buy him a special prosthesis - after a toy ball from a pistol hit him in the eye in August Nerf.

“I was there with my three children and everything happened instantly,” says the 35-year-old. “What is the probability that an accident will happen twice in one eye?”

“I was downstairs and heard a heart-rending cry. My heart pounded, I could not even go down to him and sent my partner to find out what had happened. ”

“Taylor’s eyes were filled with blood and his intraocular pressure increased. Doctors told us that he risks losing his eyesight in both eyes if we do not remove the damaged organ. ”

Now she hopes to raise enough money to get a prosthetic eye using the latest technology - the unnatural-looking prosthesis led to Taylor being bullied by his classmates.

“I really don’t want people to think I’m a bad mother,” she admits. “I’m constantly worried about him and worrying about what’s going to happen next, it’s just an emotional roller coaster. I hope people understand how much he needs this prosthetic eye."
