Jobs in America: US Post Office hosts over 10 job fairs in California

The United States Postal Service (USPS) plans to hire hundreds of Californians over the next few weeks as the holiday season kicks into high gear, reports KTLA.

At least 500 postal workers are required in Los Angeles alone, according to USPS officials.

The Postal Service will host several "mega-hiring" events in Los Angeles County to fill hundreds of part-time, full-time, or seasonal positions.

The recruitment effort is part of the Postal Service's 10-year plan "Deliverer for America”, which aims to update and modernize the work of the service in order to increase the overall financial sustainability of the agency.

More than 28 employees are expected to be hired across the country as part of a multi-year plan.

Locally, USPS is looking to hire city carriers, trailer operators and mail handling personnel during the busy holiday season.

Potential employees can visit one of the following job fairs to apply:

• Inglewood Post Office, 4201 W. Imperial Hwy. Inglewood, CA 90304, October 5th.
• West LA College job fair (USPS participation), 9000 Overland Ave. Culver City, CA 90230, October 6th.
• Wagner Station, 2200 Century Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90047, October 12.
• USPS Mega Hire El Segundo, Redondo Beach, Hawthorne, Lawndale, Inglewood, Gardena, Compton, Venice, Palos Verdes & Culver City, El Segundo Post Office 2130 E. Mariposa Ave. El Segundo, CA 90245, October 13th.
• 4th Annual Job Fair hosted by Congresswoman Nanette Barragan (USPS Involvement), Bell Gardens Post Office, 7001 Garfield Ave. Bell Gardens, CA 90201, October 14th.
• P&DC headquarters in Los Angeles, 7001 S. Central Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90052, October 18.
• USPS Mega Hiring Fair for Post Offices at Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, South Gate, Lynwood, Downey and Compton, Bell Gardens Post Office 7001 Garfield Ave. Bell Gardens, CA 90201, October 20.
• P&DC Los Angeles headquarters, Lakewood Post Office 5200 Clark Ave. Lakewood, CA 90714, October 26.
• USPS Mega Hire Fair for Post Offices at Lakewood, Bellflower, Paramount, Los Alamitos, Harbor City & Seal Beach, Lakewood Post Office 5200 Clark Ave. Lakewood, CA 90714, October 27.

All events will be held from 10:00 - 14:00.

USPS says starting pay for most positions ranges from $18 to $30 per hour.
