Dream job: American company offers $ 1000 for two days without internet

The Salt Lake City, Utah-based company therefore decided to give one lucky job seeker a 48-hour dream job a respite from technology.

No signal

A randomly selected winner will receive a $ 1000 reward over 48 hours without using any technology. That is, for abandoning all social networks, exiting the Slack messenger, e-mail and Twitter.

48 hours must be spent in a motor home (and its surroundings) in a US National Park. The RV will not be provided, but the company will refund the rental price (up to $ 1000).

Tim Tincher, a staff researcher, says they did something similar last year, but the winner was supposed to stay in Joshua Tree National Park, not pick from US parks.

"We know staying connected is more important than ever, but that doesn't mean we still tend to spend too much time in front of a screen," Tincher said.

While COVID-19 has helped bring people back to nature and have restored some of the love for outdoor walks, Satellite Internet employees say: "We wanted to find a way to help someone disconnect from the outside world and return to harmony with nature." But going on a hike and letting all your social media followers know that you've become one with nature is one thing, but going on a hike and leaving your phone unplugged is another.

The selected candidate for detox must be over 25 years old, have a valid driver's license, and be eligible to work in the United States. The winner will be selected on September 23, 2020 at 23:59; travel dates depend on the person.

It is allowed to take gadgets with you to the destination, and the participant has the right to choose any national park. But, as soon as the start is announced, the telephone, computer and any other electronic means to which we are all accustomed will be prohibited.

It should be noted that the participant is not required to overcome this test alone. According to Tincher, anyone who wants to "merge with nature" can take anyone with them.

At the end of the 48-hour digital detox, Satellite Internet will provide a mobile hotspot for the hero to share his experience online.
