He tried to create a device against coronavirus: a scientist ended up in a hospital with magnets in his nose
Australian astrophysicist Daniel Reardon was hospitalized with magnets in his nose. The scientist said that he was trying to create a device that should reduce the risk of coronavirus infection. Writes about this with the BBC.
The necklace-shaped gadget, according to Reardon, was supposed to give an alarm when a person tries to touch his face - the device should respond to a magnet on the wrists.
But something went wrong.
“My invention worked the other way around - it constantly hummed until a magnet was raised to it,” the scientist said.

Then he decided to experiment and tried to place two small magnets in his nostrils - they were attracted to each other and got stuck.
Reardon tried to pull them out with other magnets, but was unsuccessful: “I realized I had a problem.”
In the end, the man realized that the only way out was to contact doctors from a local hospital, who managed to remove the magnets.
Reardon does not intend to continue working on the device: “I think I’ll leave this idea and let someone more qualified try to do it,” he says.
