Fifth blast in Texas: parcel exploded at FedEx warehouse

A parcel exploded at FedEx in Scherz, Texas, during the night, which is probably related to a series of explosions of parcels in Austin, federal agents said.

The San Antonio, Texas, fire department stated that an explosion suffered one FedEx employee who was injured in a “shock type” that is not life threatening. FBI agents say it is a blast previous attacks in Austin are likely linked by a suspected serial demolition man.

San Antonio FBI spokeswoman Michelle Lee told CNN that, based on preliminary reports, the last burst of the package was linked to the first four attacks in Austin.

“We suspect this is related to our investigation,” Lee said.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley published a statement on social networks and urged local residents to be “vigilant.”

"The Austin Police Department is aware of the incident that occurred in Schertz, Texas and is working closely with our federal partners in the investigation," he tweeted.

“I want to remind our community to pay close attention to any suspicious device, be it a package, bag, backpack or anything that looks suspicious without approaching it,” he added.

Recall the first explosion occurred in Austin 2 March. The parcel blast killed a parcel recipient, an 39-year-old black man.

Two more parcels exploded on March 12. As a result of these explosions perished 17 is a young black boy who was badly injured by a 75-year-old Latino woman.

Fourth blast in austin happened 19 March. As a result of this explosion, two men were slightly injured.
