Five of the best and worst cities in the US for family life
The city of Miami, Florida, entered the top ten worst US cities for families and parenting.
This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the publication WalletHub.
Journalists rated 150 US major cities on several criteria:
- family entertainment (parks, skating rinks, etc.);
- health and safety (clean air, safety on the streets, crime rate, etc.)
- education and care for children (their quality and accessibility);
- availability of rental housing, the cost of living in the city;
- socio-economic characteristics (the level of divorces, the security of families, etc.).
According to these criteria, the best cities for family life are:
1. Overland Park, Kansas - 77,16 points out of 100;
2. Madison, WI — 73,04 points;
3. Plano, Texas - 72,59 points;
4. Sioux Falls, South Dakota - 69,36 points;
5. Virginia Beach, Virginia - 68,82 points.
In the top five included:
- Cleveland, Ohio - 39,15 points;
- Hialeah, Florida - 38,91 points;
- Detroit, Michigan - 38,37 points;
- San Bernardino, California - 37,04 points;
- Birmingham, Alabama - 36,98 points.
New York is in 115th place (46,64 points), San Francisco is in 50th place (56,2 points).
