Drunk Brit swam around Hoover Dam and stayed alive

Drunk Briton became the first man in history who managed to swim across the reservoir in front of the Hoover Dam in the United States and stay alive.

Forklift driver Ritin Arron Hughes, 28, was in Las Vegas with 10 friends for a bachelor party. After 37 hours of drinking, they wanted to cool off and swim, so they drove to the Hoover Dam, which lies on the border of two states - Nevada and Arizona.

Hughes, without thinking for a long time, with the words "I went," jumped into the water. He did not even have time to take off his sneakers.

Over the past 10 years, 275 order wishing to swim across the dam did not survive. Hughes managed to swim across the dam due to the fact that 9 from 10 turbines did not work that day, otherwise it would have been dragged into them.

“I sailed from Arizona to Nevada, first there and then back,” said Hughes. “Then I did not know that so many people died when they tried to do it.”

Hughes managed 30 for minutes, but added that he had to make an effort, as he felt the water pulling him to the dam.

When the daredevil came back, the American police were already waiting for him on the shore. He was arrested and fined $ 330.

“I have no regrets,” says Hughes. - I even have a tattoo with this inscription: no regrets. I am such a person. ”

Later, Hughes said that representatives of the Guinness Book of Records had already contacted him.

Hughes noted that he doesn't have an Instagram account because instead of documenting his life for social media, he prefers to live an exciting life—for himself.
