In Hamburg, a meeting began between the presidents of Russia and the United States. Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump meet face to face for the first time.

The whole world is closely following this official meeting, which is taking place against the background of the ongoing investigation in the United States of a possible deal between Trump’s election headquarters and the Kremlin during last year’s US presidential election, writes Air force.

The talks are also attended by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, and the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.

Welcoming his Russian colleague, Donald Trump said that he was very glad to meet, and the negotiations in Hamburg were just the beginning of the discussion. Trump added that he looks forward to discussing a variety of issues with Putin, and hopes that the meeting will result in a positive outcome for both Russia and the United States, as well as all other parties concerned.

“It’s an honor to be here with you,” the American president told Putin.

Vladimir Putin replied that he expects to discuss the most pressing issues of bilateral relations with Trump. “I hope that, as you said, this meeting will bring a positive result,” Putin said.

While the presidents exchanged welcome phrases, some of the journalists who were present at the meeting began to shout out questions. According to Reuters, Trump was asked about Russia's alleged interference in the US electoral process, but the American president ignored it.

Putin and Trump meet on the sidelines of the G20 summit. As the head of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, Maxim Oreshkin, told reporters, at one of the meetings, Putin criticized Trump.

“When the President of the Russian Federation spoke, he, so to speak, “returned” President Trump a little: he said that President Trump talks about fairness in international trade, but what kind of justice can we talk about in a situation where there are financial restrictions, there are trade restrictions” - said Oreshkin.

The participants of the G-20 summit in Hamburg were met by barricades, overturned garbage cans and set on fire cars.

Some aggressive protesters even managed to cut the tires of the Canadian delegation’s cars with knives and smash the windows at the Mongolian consulate.

Earlier on Thursday, in his speech in Warsaw, Trump subjected to criticized Russia for its intervention in the affairs of Eastern Europe and called on the Kremlin to stop destabilizing the situation in the region.
