In the initial versions, it was assumed that the head of state has three months after resignation, that the deadline is not regulated in the final document to apply for a seat in the Federation Council.
The same bill allows the appointment of up to 30 senators to the Federation Council, seven of whom can be appointed for life, and the rest for a six-year term.
The status of a senator allows a citizen of Russia to submit laws to the State Duma, to participate in elections in the upper house of parliament, and gives him immunity from criminal prosecution.
