Putin signed a decree on a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine

Putin instructed to introduce a ceasefire regime “along the entire line of combat contact in the Northern Military District zone” from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7, reports RBC.

“Taking into account the appeal of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, I instruct the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation to introduce a ceasefire along the entire line of combat contact between the parties in Ukraine from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7,” сообщили at the Kremlin press service.

At the same time, Putin called on Ukraine to also introduce a ceasefire for Christmas.

“Based on the fact that a large number of citizens professing Orthodoxy live in the combat areas, we call on the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and give them the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve, as well as on Nativity Day,” he said.

“In accordance with the instructions of the President, instructions were given to the troops to introduce a ceasefire for 36 hours, from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7, along the entire line of combat contact of the parties in Ukraine,” the decree of the Russian Ministry of Defense says.

Recall that on January 5, Patriarch Kirill called on Russia and Ukraine to cease fire and establish a Christmas truce.
